there are several posts relating to assessment & interview days. Each force usually have the same layout but they can differ slightly, I had my assessment & interview day a few weeks ago and passed with 86% so below is what my assessment day with british transport police was made up of......
TESTS:
Three tests: (a) verbal logical reasoning (multiple choice) ,(b) Numerical reasonong (multiple choice) ,© written exercise aka handling information.
The pass mark for each test is usually 60% or above for most forces.
INTERVIEW:
The foundation of this is focused on core competences such as: respect for diversity, team work, conflict resolution etc...you will be asked for examples of situations youve experienced. You will also be asked the dreaded question...Why do you want to be a police officer!?!
My advice to you is.... prepare as much as you can, keep answers detailed and to the point, dont make it up as you go along, visit your local station and special to a couple of serving specials. Also research your force's annual reports etc.
Remember....Fail to prepare- prepare to fail.
Most people usually fail on the numeracy test, so find a decent websit such at bitesize and do as much as you can.
Also, remember on the day the assessors are watching everything you do and say!!! Even when you think they are not, so dont make jokes and try and act cocky, just be yourself and show that your a people person.
