Thanks for all your welcomes :blu:

I'm actually very early in the application process... As in I've just applied.... But I got so foolishly excited about applying as I've been reading this place for a while, so I thought I would finally get onboard!

Hi

Kaykashi i too will be going for the September intake so i hope to see you there. I applied for the April intake and passed the SET so i was invited along for the assessment which happens to be tonght. Unfortunatly my employer decided to send me as far away as possible meaning i had no chance of attending. Fortunatly the recruitment team allowed my application to transferred to September intake. Woohoo!

Anyway i was wondering if you need any practice papers for the SET as i have several books i bought that were a great help to me. Im not asking for any money i just feel it would be a waste to throw them out as they cost over £70.

I'm sorry that your application time had to be changed, but you're still I'm the game and that's what matters!

Thanks for offering the SET papers, but I couldn't put you out like that! What a lovely gesture, though; I appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum Kaykashi,

Good luck with your application and to the others applying for the '11 September in take.

Just to mention anyone applying for the September intake that the closing date end on the 28th of February, rather shorter this time as they normally keep applications open for a few months at least!

Take time when filling in your applications make sure you double check them for mistakes. A good form goes a long way

Presentation is what it's all about, check and double check for errors before sending in the application form.

Also remember, you can never be over-dressed, i.e always wear a suit or shirt and tie unless told otherwise. When I went to do my SET last year one chap turned up in jeans and a jumper! needless to say we never saw him at the next stage in the application process!

Ah yes I do recall that guy being there. Everyone else was 'smarty' dress yet he turns up wearing that ha ha.

Sorry to hear that Zatarg. But the feedback should help next time. Is it 6-months or a year until you can re-apply?

It no longer says on the website:

Previous Applications
Applicants who have made an unsuccessful special constable application to join this Force can apply again but must evidence improvements from their previous application. Advice regarding filling out the application form is available from the Recruitment Team.

I didn't think to ask either. If it doesn't say explicitly by the next drive I'll phone them up.

EDIT: Should point out that it pre-2011 it said 12 months to reapply.

I had to wait 12 months before I could reapply when I wasn't successful with my first application.

I went in wearing jeans and a blue top, I passed it and nobody said anything! Funnily enough those who didn't pass were those in the suits!
I felt awkward though when I realised most of the people came smartly dressed, even in shirt and trousers!

I assume that wasn't for Lothian and Borders?
