Over the past week or so, myself and the other mods have been embroiled in what someone else has correctly dubbed, "reputationgate".
Now bearing in mind that this forum is for police officers, those that are becoming police officers, those that are interested in becoming police officers, and just those that are interested in the police service, We're somewhat bemused by the sheer childishness that is being displayed by some members regarding the forums reputation system.
GROW THE HELL UP. This isn't Kindergarten and you're not 5 any more.
The reputation system is here to stay for the foreseeable future, and it will stay in its current form. Complaining, whinging, whining and moaning will not change anything. Stop doing it.
Abusing the system will not achieve anything except upsetting the mods. Don't make us angry, you won't like us when we're angry.
Using up your daily votes to "make some kind of point or protest" will not achieve anything except upsetting the mods. Don't make us angry, you won't like us when we're angry.
As you are no doubt aware, the mods can see exactly who's given reputation to a post and which way they've voted. Where negative feedback is given to a post where it is obvious to all reasonable readers of the forum that a negative vote has been given "just because you can", We're (The Mods) are going to think of sanctions that will be imposed on those who choose to abuse the reputation system.
These sanctions may include, reduction of their own reputation score, or even suspension of accounts for people who continue to play silly beggers.
Why don't we all just use it as it's supposed to be used, and then we can stop fielding complaints, and everyone (mostly) will be happy.
