Just thought I'd post this here for you in case you don't subscribe to facebook updates from Bedfordshire Police and I do think this deserves a mention as Operation Vision involves and is being led by Specials and is targeted at the rural areas of Bedfordshire.

Special Constables, Cadets and volunteer Police staff will be asking communities to highlight their local priorities and will explain how Bedfordshire Police are tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in their areas. This Operation is dif...ferent to anything the Force has done before as these “high impact days” involve volunteer office staff, special Constables and Cadets working side by side.

Over 100 officers and staff will take part in the event including 50 Special Constables, 33 Police staff volunteers and 21 Police Cadets. They will help to establish local priorities and distribute leaflets highlighting key police contact numbers, police surgeries and “Street Meets”. It also gives Police staff and cadets the opportunity to talk with local people about crime and anti-social behaviour in their areas.

The areas to be covered are Shefford, Barton Le Clay, Silsoe and Shillington with mobile police stations being located in Shefford and Barton.

Chief Inspector Jim Lunn, in charge of Operation Vision, said: “Previous Operation Vision events have been very successful in getting local people to tell us what their local issues are and showing how we can work with them to tackle issues like anti-social behaviour and local fear of crime.

“This will be the first Operation Vision covering the mid-county area and is being led entirely by the Special Constabulary. This is an excellent opportunity for our Specials to engage with local people and understand the particular issues facing rural communities. It gives us the chance to reassure these communities that we take their issues seriously and are working to tackle them in the most effective ways.

“We are locating our mobile police stations in Shefford and Barton and police officers, Special officers and volunteers will be going door-to-door in Silsoe, Shillington, Shefford and Barton talking to local residents to find out how we can do more to tackle local issues.”
