As I'm new I just thought I'd say hey, and I wondered really if anybody else is planning on applying this time round?

The application forms are available 10th Jan :)

cheers

I work in Exeter, so im hoping to go there aswell. And no, it will be my second - i passed everything first time round, but had to suddenly and quite unexpectedly relocate last time so had to drop out just before training which sucked!

Very tired this morning, after volunteering in my local CCTV room last night 23:00-3:30! Really good insight into what I'll be doing in a few months and met loads of the specials and regs from my station!

If I am right in thinking you were wanting Exmouth, why not try Exeter? Not much knowledge about Sidmouth.

Only a week to go! Aside from clothes to wear when we turn up at Middlemoor and a toothbrush, anything we need especially? Notepads, pens? Travel iron to get out those creases on your shiny new uniform?

There's an area for ironing on the second floor in the accomodation (to the right of the lifts!). Bring some pens, a spare pillow (seriously, their pillows are not enough), toiletries, smart shoes and.. that's it I guess? Remember first impressions count, you'll be meeting a bunch of people for the first time, some of which could be your friends for years to come. Also you'll have to be good at talking to an audience, since there will be group work where you will present some things to the rest of the room (it isn't scary though, most people feel nervous doing this).

Thanks for the information Aaron-H, is there anything else you can tell us about the induction weekend and what actually happens during our stay?
Not long now everyone, how are you all feeling?

Do we need to wear suits/smart dress for the weekend? Or do we take casual clothes? Or...will we be given uniform there to wear for the weekend?

I don't have my letter to hand and can't remember what it said!

You are given the basic uniform for the weekends, but take casual clothes for the evenings. :D

What do you wear for the first time you actually arrive there? A suit?

Most people just wore smart-casial, so jeans, smart shoes, a nice shirt etc. You're swiftly in uniform anyway, so just don't look scruffy.

I'm hoping to get there at about 5.30 pm, unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to get there any earlier due to other commitments. I think it states on the letter that we can arrive anytime between 4-6 pm but 'NO' later.

i would advise to take nice warm clothes as dependant on which accommodation block you are staying in (the new or old one) you could find yourself freezing in the old one. i would also take some extra holdall bags as you will come away with a lot more stuff than you arrived with.

We get given boots to wear at some point, don't we? I hope the tea making facilities are up to scratch! ;) Ooh, I can hardly wait! I'll be tottering in around sometime around four hopefully. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I'd bet you will to be honest. I've stayed there around.. 8-9 times? And never had the old accomodation. I think the police cadets did though. :aok:

Edit: Good luck to all! I'll be out having a lovely meal, so will think of you all. :w00t:
