At the familiarisation event it was stated that we only get the one chance at the fitness test. This is not always the case with all forces but because they need the new recruits by the end of march, they will obviously want people who are ready in all areas including being physically fit. The recruiting officer did say if you felt you needed a little more time then you can ask to do a later ac and fitness test, but bare in mind it wont be much later with how quickly the process is going. Lets hope the adrenaline kicks in for you along with running with others! Good luck!
Thanks mate! Yeah i hope it goes fine, infact on my 1.5 mile run i am just coupple of mins behind, i am not sure how its gonna be with 9.2 bleep test as i have never done that before. And Good Luck to all going on friday. Do keep us informed though! ...

Thanks guys! As for the assessment centre, i had no idea what to expect. I prepared for the fitness which i found no probs but as for the rest you need to be yourself and think about the core competencies they look for. Bear them in mind when you are doing the tasks and you should be fine. Be confident but not overly! If there is a team task make sure you join in but dont take over the task, make sure everyone is included. Try to relax and really listen to the tasks to ensure you do it right. If its what you really want and you are ready to do the job, then you will be fine! Good luck and let us know how you get on!
Thanks Mate! I will let you know how did i do, what level did you go on you beep test and what was your push/pull score. Sorry to ask these stupid things but i just wana get an idea of what should i aim for.

Im so glad thats not in down here in England or I'd never have passed!the fitness test requirements vary for everyone.they were all explained to us at the familiarisation event so we knew what was expected. For females you need to push and pull an average of at least 39kgs. For males its 69kgs. For the bleep test it varies with age and gender so for example for females under age of 29 they must get to at least level 7.3 but for males of the same age its 9.2. But for females between 30-39 its at least level 6.7 and i think level 8.8 for males im not sure for definite. I think if you google it you should be able to find the exact requirements! But bear in mind that if you are successful you have to keep your fitness up so if you dont already regularly keep fit then start getting into a routine! Good luck! And yes let us know what happens!

I had my assessment day last thursday and they told us that they've scrapped the push/pull test now because the college doesn't do any work on stregnth any more. Also I downloaded the beep test from youtube and practiced that way.
Best of luck with any assessments

I was yeah
I have nooo idea how tough or easy this bleep test is gonna be cause I've never done one before ha, I've been doing tons as well, if I start to struggle I'm actually just gonna keep going till I keel over - can't be bothered waiting ages to come back again haha
(I may also go on a Rocky DVD marathon before hand for some inspiration)

I have a copy of the bleep test so need to get doing that but in the meantime im just working on my strength and stamina, I thought the SET was ok...wasn;'t sure about the maths one as I was tired by the time we did it haha! How did you find them?
Fraz - how did you get on at AC? So did you not have to do the push/pull?

haha - yeah will be tough I reckon, it sounds stupid but everytime I check my email I actually hope theirs not an email there so I can go train a bit more
SET was quite good actually, but I did it as a Special, and I practiced the past papers so when I did it last tuesday it was actually kind of a breeze! (First time round though - totally different story!)

I know how you feel about the email thing...i do exactly the same. I have a feeling however that if there was an AC last week they may have filled the spaces for March. But then again that could be my mind working overtime

So are you a Special atm?
Yeah ha, it's daunting.
Well if they haven't sent out a email by Friday I'll send them one just to enquire
Yeah I've been a Special for about 2 years now! Good experience! Pretty much the reason I wanted to go full time

Yeah ha, it's daunting.
Well if they haven't sent out a email by Friday I'll send them one just to enquireI imagine they'd have told us but who knows eh, if not plenty of other forces are starting to recruit, Tayside and L & B for example, an inspector I know in Fife says the College is meant to go to 80% capacity in May so its promising!
Yeah I've been a Special for about 2 years now! Good experience! Pretty much the reason I wanted to go full time
Yea I know that L&B are recruiting at the min but only from the pool of people who were further on in the recruitment process before the freeze. We can only wait and see what happens..I'm sure it will all work out
