Just curious who else applied. Handed in my application form last friday and today got a letter saying thanks for the application form and that they'll let me know if i've been succesfull or not.

It'll be nice if someone else here has as you get a rough idea when your likely to hear something then. Im assuming i should hear something next week as it seems most forces dont take long to let you know wether you've passed the first stage or not.

Hi

I applied in the last recruitment drive and failed on the maths test. I think it took just under 4 weeks untill i heared i had passed the application form. I know the PIRT is in the middle/end of october and they normally give you two weeks notice.

Good luck and hopfully you will be joining me at the PIRT.

I handed my form in last friday at maindee police station and also had a letter saying they will let us know if successful or not. I also applied in march but was unsuccessful at the paper sift stage and got a letter roughly 3 weeks after i handed in my form.

doesnt seem this intake will be as big as the previous though considering such a small response on here so maybe hear the outcome soon. lets hope anyway. dont forget to post on here when anyone recieves the good or bad news!

On the last PIRT there was around 60 people, compared to around 10 that are members on here. So it could be a large group, im hoping its small though.

We also did not recieve any letters saying that they had recieved our applications, so that could be another sign that not many have applied.

I was under the impression that no one failed the application form as everyone who i know applied had passed.
Did they tell you what you failed on ?

As soon as i hear when the PIRT i will post on here.

Good luck =)

They rang us on the last recruitment drive to remind us of the closing date.

Had a e-mail conversation earlier with a very important little birdy lol.

They are "sifting" through applications this week and will be sending out letters next week, if you have been succesful or not.

The PIRT "should" be on Tuesday 26th October, around 5.00-6.30 in the evening.

Hope this helps. And hopfully see you all thier.

Hi everyone, im also awaiting the results of the paper sift stage for the second intake of specials this year. I submitted my application form nearly three months ago, and about a week later i received a letter stating that my application had been received and they would let me know in due course if i had been successful or not. It also stated that at this point in time they had not set a deadline for applications for the second intake as they were awaiting the training dates for the first intake.
It seems we should receive some news soon though. Good luck everyone! :)

I will be joining you as i need to re-sit the PIRT ( failed by 1 point on the maths in April).

The PIRT evening consists of three things.

Numeracy test, 25 questions in 12 minutes.
Verbal reasoning test, 31 questions in 25 minutes. ( i think )
Fitness test, beep test, you need to reach level 5.4.

The pass mark for the maths and verbal reasoning was 50%

I will be nothing like you expect it to be, trust me. arrive about 10-15 minutes early, they are always late starting. Take a drink, your mouth will be as dry as a desert.

All i can say is work on your maths, verbal reasoning, and fitness.

Thier are loads of topics on this site that will help.

If you need anymore advice, send me a message.

So if im thinking correctly, you only have to get about 13 numeracy questions correct and about 16 verbal reasoning questions correct in order to pass?

Also, how many questions are there in the checking test, do you know?

Yeah thats right ,the pass mark is 50%,so 13 and 16. If you fail one test and do excellent on another you still fail, like i did :)

On the PIRT in April thier was no checking test, i strongly ecpect it to be the same

The PIRT is quite easy compared to other forces.

Any other questions, just ask.

I've done ans passed the PIRT for Gloucestershire police twice so kinda know what too expect. Good that they dont have the checking test anymore as its one less thing to fail on lol.

Have anyone else received the information pack today ?

By the way. the numerical questions in the test are slighly harder than the examples given. The verbal reasoning test sample is a good example of the verbal reasoning questions.

What time is everyones elses PIRT ? Mine is at 6.10.

I will be going in my suit. Last time some people turned up in trackasuit bottoms and t-shirts, did not look smart atall. I would rather ne overdressed than turn up like a tramp.

Mine is at 5:35. I was under the impression we were allowed to work out the sums on a piece of paper as i have done when applying to a different force, but it says differently in the info pack.

For those of you who have done it in the past, are we allowed to work stuff out on paper? Im useless when it comes to calculating percentages and sums such as 157X67 without doing it on paper :)

On the last PIRT we were given paper to work out the questions.

Good luck.
