Folks, a question has come up in this thread regarding the terms and conditions of use of the site and forum. In short, our terms and conditions are clear and fair (you can read them by clicking on Forum Guidelines/Disclaimer/Legal Notices at the top right of every forum page) and every user is asked to agree to them on registering. Your continued use of the site depends upon your acceptance of these T&Cs.

Part of the T&Cs declare that:

Not withstanding the above, if PoliceSpecials.com receives a legitimate request from a police force or other such authority to disclose information about a particular user in order to facilitate an investigation into disciplinary or criminal matters, then PoliceSpecials.com will co-operate with such a request and release the requested information.

In most cases, the only information we hold about someone is their email address, IP address, and username - this is information collected on registration. Any and all other information you provide (e.g. in your signature, or in posts) is entirely at your discretion and is therefore in the public domain.

If you don't agree to the above terms, then you should cease using the forum at once, and contact me to remove your email address from our system, which I am happy to do.

I hope this clarifies the situation for those who would wave the Data Protection Act about as some sort of sacred shield...
