Does anyone know anything about when SWP will be recruiting next? I am able to apply again next week.
I phoned bridgend a few days ago and they just stated that there aren't any vacancies yet and just to keep checking website.

Any info would be good

As far as I am aware, it will be a long while.

There is a long list of people who have gone through the recuitment stages but haven't been given start dates for training yet so will assume that they will need to start first before they open recruitment.

As said I think it will be a while but cant say for sure. The other option could be Gwent or DPP both are taking on atm but not sure how that sits with where you live etc

Yeh the cheif on the weekend mentioned she had to fight for us to start now! There are rumors of another budget cut of 20% so the recruitment side is looking grim for the time being as stated above dyfed powys and gwent are recruiting all year round!

Yeah i'v considered Dyfed Powys and Gwent. I have actually got an application form for DPP, but i'm hesitating applying for them because I know that I really want to join SWP... So its just a matter of weighing it all up which is proving difficult

I can understand why you'd rather SWP, we're by far the best LOL. in the current climate you better off getting in where you can though, with finances etc it could be a long wait for you

Just phoned Gwent for an application form and they said the closing day is today so I think it was a little too late!
Come on SWP start recruiting again!

As you probably are already aware at present there are no plans to recruit any futher Special Constables to South Wales Police. This decision is being regularly reviewed.

Not sure if you're still looking to join the Special Constabulary but Dyfed Powys and North Wales Police are currently recruiting for Special Constables.

I'm also aware that British Transport Police are looking to recruit 11 Special Constables to the Wales & Western Area of their force. This information isn't published on their website and is presently being done at a local level. if you know of anyone interested in applying to BTP as a Special Constable within this BCU please ask them to contact me and i will provide them with furhter information.

Does anyone know if one would be able to transfer if they are already towards the end ot their Recruitment stage with SWP? Or would you have to start from scratch?

I was going to wait until they recruit but ended up passing papersift for dyfed powys.
It was in the evening post about 2 weeks back. Go onto thisissouthwales website and type into the search 'police specials' and something should come up (I can give you direct link as I'm on my phone and it takes forever to load). It also says that they took on 3 or 4 specials to regulars in either the neath port talbot or swansea area.
Check it out.

I spoke to them yesterday. They said they are still waiting to hear a decision off chief officers, they are hopeful to have some news by december.

The article doesn't specify when SWP intend to recruit for further Special Constsbles. Not to put a downer on anything, but i would watch this space as to what will happen next in terms of Specials recruitment. There are no firm dates set and the organisation doesn't know when it will have the financial resillience to recruit any further specials. They don't even know where they will be able to find money from for regular officers at present.

Yo dude, I'm in exactly the same boat as you! Applied in April, told in August/September that Recruitment would be on hold.
Rang Recruitment in Mid November and told we may know something in December but that Vetting was on Hold.

I assume that recruitment will start soon or we will be told something soon if that is what they told you?
