WHY ARE WE SHOUTING?

the next training course will be april/may time, you need to get onto your special constabulary co-ordinator and find out where you are with your application, 6 months is a long time to not hear anything!

Opps..... sorry about that forgot
Thanks for the reply.... i do know there was a delay due to me having a second job as a Security Officer but that is now resolved and im no longer a guard due to it being a conflict of interests. I only had it to gain a little experience but it back fired but they did confrim they will still go ahead with application as i have given it up. Lets just cross my fingers and hope i will be on april/may course.
Thanks again Gelf.....

No worries, I remember when I was in your position I would regularly phone my co-ordinator to check on my progress and remind him that I was still waiting!

Everyone on here will tell you that their area is the best, and that's where you should go.

It's really a matter of personal choice, based on where you live, and how far you're willing to travel to get to a duty/training. All of the areas, and all of the stations within Avon & Somekit are pretty much the same.

Don't let anyone 'convince' you to travel miles to a station because "it's the best one"

I dont know that i would agree that all stations are the same, from my experience each patch is different and often have different methods of policing.

i would say pick an area you know but not somewhere you live (or somewhere you will keep meeting people you went to school with) my station is close enough that i know the area quite well, but far enough from my house that i dont deal with many people i know.
like Damsel said tho, its down to personal choice.

Oh and its "A-Van & SomeKit", get it right Damsel!!!

p.s. My area is the best!! :D

Hay all,

i had an email saying i was successful in passing my medical. They now need to wait for a training session. The next one is due to start in April as someone told me on here so it proves THIS SITE WORKS. They are always very over-subscribed but my name will be put forward.
Very excited now......... just a waiting game......
Maybe with a bit of luck i will see a few of you there if you are trainning on that date or even work along side some of you in the near future.
Wish everyone the best of luck.......

Dan Carey.

Congrats mate. We had alot of people pull out of the January course, and are now on the April course. I didnt find out I was on the Jan course until about a week before the induction, so you maybe lucky right up to the last minute.
Good luck.

Dan:

Where did you have your interview to and where which station will you be based at, as it's unusual for us to take on someone who lives as far away as you do.

Steve.

I would disagree with this, as having worked in or been to a large number of the Districts within the force area I can say from personal experience that all sectors are totally different from each other and you get a very different type of policing in Bristol to what you get in Taunton or Yeovil.

Hi Steve,
i Had my p.i.r.t test and interview at western station they were realy nice to me as iv had no luck over this way. They know its not a problem for me traveling and i have an uncle who lives near by who is a probation officer. Im not sure where im going to be based at the moment but hoping its going to be as close to the other side of the bridge as possibe. Anyway im prepared to relocate and maybe with a bit of luck get in there full time in a year or so on there next regular intake after finding my feet.

The two easiest stations to get to from the bridge are Staple Hill (DS) and Filton (DF). I'd say that Staple Hill just edges it on the mix of policing roles that you're likely to encounter.

Or Thornbury (10 mins from the old bridge) - again it depends on the sort of jobs you're looking for.

Am I missing the joke here? DS and DF are miles away from the bridge? (DF more so)
