ended up doing that in my course. We were in the last 2 miniute royal when my batton flew out of my hand, he charged me and his genitals met my knee. He was down for the count

Believe that's covered under appropriate use of force :D
If it's him or you and your going to come off worse, i'd say a nutcracking was justified, rather him than me!

Looking forward to my PPE weekend in Jan! You'll enjoy Airwave Wayne great fun, especially listening in on whats going on out on district!

Hand cuffing is not that bad, take your time, do it right.

CS ..... Never again.

ASP baton training, its a slow climb to a tiring and extremely fun end. My voice is still very horse and people dont recognize my voice and say "whos this" on the phone. I loved it , but it is very easy to over step the fine line between reasonable and excessive force, 1 strike to many and that is deemed as a beating not a act of defence.

All I will say is give it your all and start practicing looking mean to dominate your aggressor. A face and voice is 100 time better than a ASP baton but an ASP baton is a warming friend to have along with CS. Gutted we didnt get to do it all in our stabby as we could not find them.

Love how Wayne just says CS...Never again
Handcuffing should be good and i imagine i'll be very knackered by the end of the PPE weekend, but then you know you've given it your all and that's the best thing to do! :D

Well done to all Class B for getting through the PPE weekend, now it's Class A's time ;)

I fear Gelf is planning something Wayne, be prepared to flee in an easternly direction, especially if you see him constantly shaking the can behind you.
I've no doubt i'll get Team Sprayed eventually and i imagine i'll be buying surplus washing powders to get the leftovers out of my uniform :D

I'm so nicking you :p Simply because i feel it might be entertaining to try! Be plenty of running around, sore arms and legs...well sore everything and the immense amount of the word 'Get back!' being shouted that weekend!
I believe we'll all give it 110% Just like our beloved colleagues in Class B :) Thankfully i've got the day after that weekend off so i'll be able to recover before having to speak a lot at work!!

You'll have great fun with Airwave Wayne, just watch out for the wilderbeast. :p

Oh god no, i'm not touching my eyes :D And if i've heard correctly, after CS exposure in training, never think 'i'll wash it all off in the shower!' do your head first leant over your shower/bath otherwise it's all going to sting badly :p

Hey guys want to ask a question that might already be on here but couldn't find it, Soo... I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight to how physical is the training? Not so much in strength but mainly in running/fitness so I can prepare myself. I don't really excercise much but only manage to run 1 mile mile without stopping to walk! My training starts in August so any help and advise would be awesome. Thanks :)

the only real physical training is your weekend of PPE, 2 days of pure gym work. where you always jog, never walk. your muscles ache after a day, then you have another to continue and your drilled until the training comes second nature.

So there's no like long distance like over a mile? As I said I'm quite unfit so should I prepare myself over the next 2 months? Also Is there written tests during training?

depends on what the trainers want. I didn't do any jogs or runs over a long distance, only up and down the length of the gym a few times.

I wasn't the fittest bloke there, but I still managed the whole weekend

I would do a little bit of training before you do your PPE, its not too physical but you will enjoy it much more (and probably find it easier to learn) if you are in reasonable shape. Nothing big, just do a few press ups and some short runs in the months (or weeks) before your PPE weekend.

What Gelf said really, the fitter you are the easier you will find and the more you will enjoy it. You don't have to be superfit but a good level of fitness won't just be useful for the PPE weekend but also for any of those shifts that get a little sporty. You have plenty of time to get fit as PPE is near the end of the course now. You are the first to embark on the new 9 weekend and 1 day course.

Ok guys cheers! Another quick question haha.. Umm my boss at work asked me to do a First Aid course and I said to him that I'll be doing one with my specials training. He said ok but need to know if I'll be able to use that or if I get a certificate for first aide in the work place because if not he wants to put me on a course.... Yea how come the course has changed and what's changed... Also what is PO training? Thanks

The First aid course you do with us is not the same qualification as first aid at work. It used to be a 4 hour course this has now been revised to a day course what we call mod 2 where as before it was mod1. The course has changed to cater for the ever changing role that we do. In the grand scheme of things 9 weekends is still very little training. Some sessions have been extended ie first aid and a few extra things added. PO training is Public Order.

I thought I read somewhere that we would be getting Emergency First Aid at Work trained, though I doubt we will get any certificates for it!

Also what is PO training? Thanks

I don’t think there will be any public order (PO) training on your foundation course unless A&S has won the lottery!!

It is emergency first aid at work, mod 2 it is not the first aid at work course which is a 4 day course.
PO is waiting to be confirmed level 3, but dates have been booked and given to those that start in August.
