Region 1 is American DVDs David, they only work on muli-region DVD players or American DVD players... Fortunately Tesco and a lot of other Supermarkets sell all singing all dancing DVD players that are muli-region straight out of the box, and play MP3s, copied discs, photo discs, everything for about £25 nowadays.

Galifrey I can pay you next week for the complete Thin Blue Line.

If it's marked "all" then chances are it'll play the R1 discs, but I'd recommend splashing out on a cheap multi-region DVD player just in case, you can "hack" non multi-region DVD players using a code you put in via the remote, but I don't think that's strictly legal and even I'm not mad enough to post the details on a site full of Cops.

It is legal Rich the codes are available everywhere on the internet, there's absolutely nothing wrong with doing that. David what dvd player or recorder have you got?
