Hiya,

I'm going to apply for the City of London police (recruitment starting on Monday). I've already been through the Met recruitment (failed at the assessment day because of my role plays and interview), so I know what to expect, but just wondering: is the recruitment process the same as the Met, and also, what's the difference between the Metropolitan police and City of London police? Speaking to our police officer at work CoL mainly deals with fraud as they're in the fraud hotspot.

Thanks

Will be the same process as its a national assessment my partner passed it last year. She had to go to Chelmsford for her Day1.

Ev erything is the same money etc Uniform is different in that they use red/white cheques and the custodian hat is different. They do deal with fraud but thats a higher levels when you join and for your first 2 years youl be put on terratorial policing which is 'beat' style policing

Very much higher level from a PC my next door neighbour retired just last year from CoLP fraud. He was a Detective Sargent.

I wonder how long those forms are going to last before they're all gone! Say, until 09:03?

I'm really lost. One min I hear people talking about the Police not recruiting full time officers, then about having to do specials for a set amount of time, then somthing about budget cuts, then now theyre recruiting.?

The specials for 2 years thing is all a massive rumour at the moment, i don't think it's been implimented anywhere yet.
Budget cuts are often with behind the desk staff, e.g. cutting down on staff in departments such as HR, or keeping PC recruits waiting for a start date that is later than originally planned.
It's all down to the forces on where they spend their money.

City of London Police and Metropolitan Police are two separate forces. It is the Met where all the rumours about special for 2 years, not recruiting until 2050, college course etc. are rife.... City of London are the force recruiting on Monday...

Mate,

If your considering applying shortly then you really need to do your homework on the force - what they stand for, their values, area covered etc.

Fraud is a small part of their role mate and you need to look more in depth otherwise you wont get passed the papersift...........

I heard that all new PCs will soon have to be former Army Colonels with 1:1 degrees, 7000 hours as a Special Constable, will have to pay for thier own training and must have been PCSOs for atleast 5 years with a small Island constabulary.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
