Hey all.

(I Posted this in the main section of the forums but i thought it might be appropiate here)

I suppose im considered a newbie to both the forum and to the police as ive only recently made an enquiry into the specials and awaiting a date for a Specials seminar due to Warwick sometime in February.
Ive been considering the police for a long time now and was introduced to the specials from my step-grandfather who was a special for Lincolnshire police for over 20 years, also being friends with a regular police sgt in Warwickshire has also helped pursade me to finally sign up.

Ive no idea what the whole process involves or how long it takes before your accepted, or even how hard/easy it is to get accepted. Its something i definatly what to pursue with my life, having something of a 'Blue Light Syndrome' it was inevitable i would sooner or later apply to either Warwickshire or West Midland Forces.

If anyone could give me some information or hints and tips on joining that would be wonderful, ive been searching on Google for info but if i can speak to other applicants or serving member that would be far better then any search engine.

Thanks in advance

Chris

Welcome Chris,

You may struggle to get a reply in here as according to some members warwickshire advise their specials on the use of the site, so many of them i believe just avoid it to save the hastle however there are a few here!

Im between Stratford and Banbury and also waiting for the next recruitment evening, they told me it was going to be march date tbc. So if you find out a date could you let me know and vice versa. We also have another member around nezza who has been to a recruitment day and has his police initial recruitment test today or tomorrow i think it is.

From what i understand theres the recruitment evening to attend which is a couple of hours various speakers and then real specials to meet and talk to. Then if you choose to apply the application forms and all the paper worky bits, a police initial recruitment test (basic maths and english and verbal reasoning skills), a fitness test and medical, interview and security vetting. I believe it takes a fair while but check the warwickshire website for info they have a few promo's out at the moment for being a special!

Hope to see you at the recruitment evening then!

Hi WindSwept.

Thanks for the Response.

I have noted several times the notice about Warwickshire and this site for the Specials but as im not 'yet' a special i will risk it.
I was told in an email from Warwick HQ that the seminar was for Febuary not March (Date TBA) so i dont know if they have changed it or we have conflicting info.
I do hope to see you too at the Meeting whenever it gets arranged it would be nice to have some known people there to and ease any worries people have, (breaking the ice etc).
I am available for most of the day so feel free to PM me if you want a further chat and i will reply when i can. ( m getting off a night shift so will br sleeping soon).

Chris

Do i have to carry a book about how to be a police officer witha rose in it so you know who i am??

But i agree would be nice to know someone abit before we turn up!

Thanks mate. I will!

Hi Chris,

I have sent Luke a lot of information on Warwickshire, which I can send to you if you want? (PM me)

Warwickshire is definately a recommended force, and the seminar will prove that to you!

Cheers
