I have to sit my theory test for the Standard course - anyone who has been through it recently got any handy hints??
Haven't seen how Durham do it and no doubt it will be different from the one I did in NorPol!! Driving school don't have any practice papers :-(

In my force (WYP) I bought myself a copy of the latest Highway Code, genuinely read it from cover to cover. Then I went on 'tinternet and found some test papers on various websites which did help. I'd waited soooooo long to be put forward for my permit I wasn't going to let the theory side let me down without making an effort. One or two 'sneaky' questions on my paper but some were straight forward.
Good luck. (and yes I passed

So is that for the non-blues course, am not sure how the driving works for Durham is it the same as a normal driving test like theory test and then test day... and what do you norm have to do on the test day...

Basic - A2B driving, transport details etc.
Standard - Reponse Driving, compliant stops, etc.
Advance - Traffic, high powered vehicles.
Specials in Durham can do the Basic and Standard courses.

Trev - there are three grades of driving qualification:
Basic - A2B driving, transport details etc.
Standard - Reponse Driving, compliant stops, etc.
Advance - Traffic, high powered vehicles.
Specials in Durham can do the Basic and Standard courses.
Ahh cool good luck with the standard lol so if in one year i decided i wanted to do the basic, i would just need to show basic a2b driving just showing i can safely drive, and is the transport details a test lol
when do you sit your standard course, i would eventually like to do the standard course, good luck...
the Advanced does not sound appealing to me tho lol

All i did was sit in front of a machine and look into it while the instructor pressed the button to change slides and ask questions.

He knew stuff, but not enough about ham radio. Sometimes Google just doesn't supply all the information needed. He even PM'd me, but he didn't give any useful information to confirm/deny his radio ham waltyness.
But more importantly, is this another potential ham I see here BCST? What would you like to know about 1/2 wave dipoles?
An interesting first arrest - not a topic you necessarily cover in training (unless you do in Durham). Did you manage to get in on the interview for learning purposes?
