Hi all,
Happy X-mas to all, Has any one been issued with the new Style Tac Vests? They are lightweight and far more robust than the one I was issued with... And New Police Hi-Vis jackets? My ones like a coat, I have to tuck it under my body armour, Hampshire have bomber style jackets and so do A+S and some Conurbation Officers do too in the last topic the female Pc was wearing one.
Ah one more thing, Personal issue Airwave?
I thought that it was once we complete our PDP?
A few newbies that I spoke too have been issued their own :D

Enough of my moaning, Its Christmas!

Enjoy and be safe

I was attested on the 27th of Sep.

I have all the new gear and was told once PDP is signed off we get our own airwave.

Your old style tac-vests with the large "Police" written on the back are very nice!

And I prefer the coats (What we would call an Area Car coat) to the bomber jackets. Keeps my bum dry when it rains! Nothing worse than sitting in a car with a wet bum....

If by "new style" Tac Vest you mean the one with lots of perforated holes as opposed to a more opaque material, I have one... they're slowly being rolled out across the force to replace the older versions. Be aware they're not waterproof though - you'll have to move your paperwork from the pockets if it starts to rain!

I don't have a bomber jacket, but I'm happy with my long coat - as Slim Jim says, it'll keep you dryer when it's raining. Nice and warm too, especially with the liner zipped in.

Airwaves are usually issued to Specials on completion of their PDP - are you certain that those you've spoken to actually have personal issue, and it's not just a case of them having plenty of pool radios to go round? If they have their own, good luck to them - I liked not having my own when I was a probationer, it gave me a good reason to work on my PDP and get signed off.

The long coats do indeed keep the rain out, alas they also keep the sweat in, net result is you get wet regardless!

The long coats are great i have put mine to the test on duty and it keeps you nice and dry .
The only part of the uniform that would be nice to see change is the blue shirt some forces use the black polo shirts which i think would be a much more practicle idea .

Ah, well I'm lucky enough to have been issued with the NATO pullover, the warmest item of clothing ever issued to Dorset officers... so I'm fine with our standard shirts, ta!
