been trying the number since 8:30 today not got through once.
the website says the recruitment is now closed at 10:54 because they have already issued the packs

I was on the phone from 8.20am until 9.15am and it was constantly engaged. Luckily i have a plan B and will let you all know how it goes later

I rang them at 11:15 and they said recruitment is closed as they have no applications left. I also says that on their website. They must have had a hell of a demand!

I only wanted to enquire about transferring my application from another force. I have to write to them now, but I'm not holding my breath.

Oh gosh, sorry guys! If it's any consolation, the rumour mill is that Merseyside will open up later this month. Or Northumbria right now!

You should have gone to Recruitment at HQ and picked up a pack in person!

There are a large number of police support staff applying too and that is what some of them have done.

maybe they had to advertise it and didnt really have the spaces for any sort of demand
i know a lot of internal people will ,are encouraged to apply, pcso's specials first before the general public. sour grapes ha ha

Erm...I think I'm getting one. I rang at 0831 and it was engaged until 1015. I slung an email in at 1000. When I rang at 1015 he asked if i'd sent an email I said yes and asked him to check and he said yes that's fine thankyou bye! So I hope he's sending one out!

The 30 places is from an outside source who rang up for an app pack so dont quote me on that one but there were definatly 1500 apps sent out.

Lincolnshire Police are 'overwhelmed' by job applicants


Lincolnshire Police have had to close their recruitment drive for new officers after so many people applied they ran out of forms. The force had more than 1,000 requests within the first two hours of a recruitment campaign they expected to last a week.

By 1200 GMT on Monday they had to turn away potential applicants as their limited number of packs had gone.

The force, which has 60 posts to fill this year, said it was "overwhelmed".

David Freeman, senior recruitment officer, said: "We expected a good level of interest for applications and this has been a fantastic response.

"We are delighted that so many people are interested in joining Lincolnshire Police as police officers, but it is also regrettable that there will be people who are disappointed that they were unable to get an application form."

similar story to mine. I sent an email at 8.40 then got through on the phone at 9.30. I told them that I had already emailed but wanted to check I had a pack on the way. I gave my name and was told "you will get a pack"! I presumed that if you emailed you would at least get an automated reply letting you know that you had succesfully been added to the list.
I now have my fingers crossed that the postie drops one off at my house!

However, I feel that Lincolnshire Police were a bit dim thinking that they wouldn't be as popular.

Look at all the other forces, hardly any recruiting because so many are applying. Dorset Police sent 500 (I think?) at the beginning of September last year, I missed out because I couldn't get through before I went to work 

I knew there was going to be high demand, I've never hit redial and call so many times

When you work for Lincs full time like I do, you'll find that they NEVER plan ahead for anything.

Quality. Received an email apologising and that the force was sorry and had run out of application packs.

But already had the appication pack in my hands!

Of that 1500 there are many who will fail the paper sift. And there are, AFAIK, 120 positions over next 2 years. So you're looking at top 8(ish) percent getting through. Which I think isn't too bad.

It is quite daunting thinking that there will only be 120 jobs available with 1500 applications sent out. I find it much more comforting to think that for each space available you only have to beat 12 other people

Although it seems just managing to get an application pack is an achievement in itself

It is a daunting proposition when you think of the ratio of applications to the available positions. Quite of a lot of people who have got applications will probably not send them back, or miss the deadline.

Bearing in mind how difficult it is to get an application form...I must be doing well. I received a SECOND application pack today!!!
