I was interested to see that they're only releasing a limited amount of them. Looks like they'll have some busy phone lines.

I applied in the last campaign in 2008, I have a start date of February.
I remembered that as I came to check if you had replied. I bet you can't wait. What Division will you be in?

I've got South which is what I wanted, not sure which station yet. I'm quite excited!
Are you going to apply Squeal?
Yes, been waiting to apply for ages. They said they were going to this summer but that never happened unfortunately.

Hi,
I will give it serious consideration even though I would prefer to become a regular with Humberside.
The 6 month wait between applications is a problem though. If I failed to get into Lincs and then a couple of months later Humberside decide to accept applications then I might miss out.
I will try and get an answer from Humberside recruitment probably in the week before Lincs are sending out applications and if there is a possibility of Humberside recruiting I will wait.
I have heard lots of rumours about Humberside taking on in 2010 but nothing concrete.

I've been told that humberside have a full intake of 15 PCSO's in march becoming regulars and they are taking another internal group on however there is a waiting list from previous applicants so the chances of getting in are slim until another year down the line so im just going to apply for linc's

Mine was Papersift---> Fitness---> Assessment Centre---> Medical---> Vetting
Now it's Papersift---> Assessment Centre---> Interview---> Fitness---> Medical---> Vetting
An interview is probably a fair idea so a candidate can prove they know about Lincolnshire's policing priorities. Otherwise the decision-makers never actually meet the candidates until they start?

I was just reading through the recruitment section of the website, it looks like they've re-jigged the application process since I did mine, and added an interview.

I reckon thats alot better, theres too many people passing the fitness then failing the assessment centre. At least this way I can fail my application before I have to prance around the gym in my speedos!!

Does anybody know how many spaces there are available ?
Do they favour middle aged people as to younger applicants as im only 20 years old ?
I have A grade A-Levels in Law and wonder if it will help much in my application ?
If sucessful, what sort of time scales would i be looking at between applying and actual training ?
Sorry if these questions have already been posted up elsewhere on the forum. I realise i could have spent abit of time using the search function but it is 1am and i guess after minimal sleep, that i should get to bed soon.
Cheers in advance, Steve

Hi guys im not much of a poster but i have been keeping an eye on this forum as it seems to have plenty of useful information. Ive wanted to get into the Police Force for a few years now and i have a friend that is a Special in Lincoln. I noticed that Lincolnshire havent recruited in a long time so was going to apply for Specials until i noticed in todays Echo that the regulars were recruiting. Im hoping to be at the station first thing Monday morning to get my application form. Just had a couple of questions i was hoping some of you guys could answer ?

Hi there,
Not from Lincolnshire but thought I'd drop a line.
To answer your 1st question, on the website it says "We only have a limited number of application packs to send out. Once all of these packs have been requested regrettably we will have to close down this opportunity." Therefore i'm guessing there aren't going to be a lot of spaces available, but i'm pretty sure a lot of people will be requesting application packs. You said that you were going to the station for your application pack, I don't think it is done that way. Someone from Lincs correct me if I am wrong, but i'm guessing you ring up recruitment and give your details and they will send one out to you. Although it says that application forms will be available for 5 days, with not many forces recruiting at all i'd say they would be all gone within the morning of monday, so make sure you ring first thing and keep on trying. I know when Dorset started recruiting a few months back, quite a few members rang up lots of times and eventually got through and got a pack.
As to your second question, age is nothing to do with it. As long as your 18+ (maybe 18 1/2 for some forces) and can give personal examples of the core competencies then you should be fine.
You don't need any qualifications to join the police, so your A level in Law wouldn't make a difference whether or not you pass/fail the papersift.
Finally, if you look at a post up above, someone applied in the Lincs Police 2008 recruitment campaign and they start training next month, so it's taken them well over a year since they applied to actually starting.
Hope I've been of some help,
Best of luck!
Chris

As others have said, there are limited application packs available over a five-day period, so they're anticipating a lot of applications and the phone lines are likely to be busy!
Age doesn't really come into it as long as you've got examples from your own personal experience that meet the competencies they're looking for. You don't have to be hugely worldly, but again they're expecting you to have experienced the things they're after.
There is a section on the application form for qualifications and achievements, so your Law A Level will be very relevant to your application. While it may not earn loads of brownie points, it's certainly not a negative thing!
To give you an idea of timescales, I applied during the last recruitment campaign in May 2008, and I start training next month. Things such as how long your medical stage takes, the number of intakes coming up and the number of people already on the waiting list could affect your start date. I am not sure how they prioritise the waiting list, it could be assessment scores or it could be length of time on the list.
In any case, best of luck, and if you need anything else give us a shout!
(Edit, typo).

I have plenty of other things to spend my time doing work wise at the minute and if it wasnt for the fact that the regulars are luckily recruiting at the minute, id be happy enough in my job and going for Specials instead and doing that in my spare time.
I realise i wont find out whether i enjoy it or not until i actually get in there an experience it for myself but ive always wanted to join the Police Force in one way or another and look forward to getting there in the long run.
If i wasnt lucky enough to make it through the papersift etc for regulars would i still need to wait the 6 months before applying for Specials and carrying on with my current job ?
Cheers, Steve
