Hi guys n gals,
I have just been shortlisted for the position of market constable at Spitalfields in London, i have studied bye laws roles etc...
However i cannot find a photo or any link on the web as to what they look like or ppe etc anywhere.

Can anyone advise me please.
I even spent a few hours walking round the market trying to find one to no avail???

I work next to spitalfields and often pop in for lunch - have to say I've never seen one (Sorry to be of no help!)

Seen them at Smithfileds don't think they carry any PPE it's more an historical role I could be wrong though.

Hi thanks for the reply theyare same group, I have found some old photos, and they have custodian hats on,
I believe they wear caps now, i Have writen to col 3 times and not got a reply.

They wear a basic police type uniform, very similar to the CoLP, but with a flat cap, no diced band, and a cap badge that is liek a miniature version of the CoLP helmet plate. They do not carry appointments or wear body armour. They enforce market byelaws (of which there are many), mainly targetting trading standards and behaviour of market customers and traders. The Smithfield bylaws are atteched... New Spitalfields, New Billingsgate, and Leadenhall have their own.

I was in London last week and walked through the Markets and saw a lesser spotted Markets Constable walking round. From what I could see he had no ppe but was in a HiViz jacket and had a cap with as has been stated before a smaller version of the COL helmet plate.
