As far as I'm concerned, you're travelling to and from your place of work (ie, HQ), but not driving while you're there, so there'd be no need to upgrade your insurance. If you were out doing patrols in your own car (which would never happen for obvious reasons) then it'd be different.Would I need to upgrade my insurance to cover Business use? Or if I have got 'Commuting' down, will that be OK?

That's good that they've offered to pay the extra... I certainly wouldn't be worrying about it whilst I was training though, there'll be no need for it. Wait until you start & ask one of the trainers, they'll sort you out.We were told to put it on as we may be required to drive our own vehicle to a different station during our duty. However, they said they would pay for the cost of adding it on to your policy

we were told we needed to specify 'commuting' on our policies to cover us to and from duties.
Just a thought... why would you need business use? if you have a ding on your way to a station, it's regarded as a Polac and covered on the force policy.
