  2. Passport photos

It says that police officers can, am I correct in thinking specials are police officers and that special constable is their rank? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  3. Not a recruitment question, so please move if necessary. I'm just wondering if Specials can sign passport/driving licence applications to confirm the identity of the applicant? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

  7. Declare everything, it's upto the vetting department if it is relevant or not. If you don't declare it and they find out it won't look good. Good luck Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  8. References

From my experience they sent off for my refrences and they were sent back, I then failed the vetting stage, and my references were good. Good luck!
  9. There is a lot of people on here that will disagree with what i have to say, and there will be a few that agree. The ones who won't will probably be the ones who haven't had to deal with it, I was refused security clearance a couple of years ago, and was not given an explanation as to why!! Which in it's self is wrong i feel. I have never been in trouble, seen the inside of a police cell or even seen what a FPN looks like, and i was refused, i jumped through all the hoops and was even told by the special sergeant interviewing me it was one of the best he had done in 15 years!!! Maybe i was refused because of someone else, maybe a family member which lives 105 miles away from me i don't know, but what i do know is the force i applied for has 15 serving police officers with convictions and cautions ranging from dangerous driving to fraud!! But yet they wont accept someone who is as clean as a whislte and was honest throughout? Then i read on here about people who have applied with cautions, convictions spent or not and still passed vetting, i know each case is dealt with by merit but to me a conviction or caution is still the result of braking the law at some point. So i find it very disheartening and unfair that the vetting departments can refuse people without giving reason or even inviting you to speak to them. In some peoples eyes it could be seen as a form of discrimination and judgmental. After all i was always led to believe that the main priority and ethic of the police service is not to discriminate and treat everyone the same. If i was an employer and refused to recruit anyone if they had no record and jumped through all the hoops and passed everything i required them too im sure i would be held accountable somehow. I haven't written this post to accuse anyone or give the impression that the police service discriminates against people, i have written it to express my feelings and let people know how it could be perceived by some people and to see what other people think. I haven't written it because im bitter or jealous neither because i'm not ,like i said its been two years since so i'm over it. i just want to know why they can do it and why they are a law to themselves.
  10. Financial Vetting - How far back?

If you look on the form where it's asking for your financial details it will probably say something along the lines of "have you ever ...... In the last 6 years." So I'm guessing as been as defaults etc are removed off your file after 6 years they will not be going further back than that. However each force is different so your best bet is to ring HR.
  11. Sickness record

How far back do they go on sickness records? Is it last 3 years or 12 months?
  12. Confused about my references

Maybe they done the references 10 months ago? And your referees have forgot. I think you should phone HR and explain.
  13. Inflammatory Bowel Disease?

That's great thanks for the replies, hopefully it wont be too much of a problem when (if) I get to the medical stage in the future.
  14. I`m just wondering is there any serving officers here or anybody that has been refused medical clearance because of having Crohns disease or Ulcerative Colitis? Or possibly both? If there is any officers, how do you cope with the condition and the demands of police work? I ask this as I am waiting to see if I have one these conditions, fingers crossed I don`t.
  15. Your guide to VETTING

Hi what force is this for just out of interest? Also the following link will be of use http://www.policecouldyou.co.uk/documents/npia-02-20112835.pdf?view=Binary if you go to page 9 it has details of your offence you stated above. I don't know if a fine is the same as a conviction, as I am not a serving officer but I would imagine it is treated the same when it comes to vetting. Good luck and I hope it is not too much of a problem as HR have already told you.
