A few rants about car insurance

My car insurance runs out in under two weeks time, my renewal came through and it's gone up from £324 to £522 despite me having no claims etc.

I have had to set about looking for alternative car insurance, and in my quest for a more realistic price I have noticed a few strange questions on the insurance application... Are these at all relevant to my driving? You decide....

What is your marital status? Err, sorry do divorcees drive more or less dangerously than those who are in a civil partnership?
What is your occupation? Come on guys, do certain occupations attract any form of discounts any more? Pah! I think not, so why ask?

How many cars are there in your household? May as well as how often do I mow my lawn, as it's just as relevant...

I have had 4 phone calls from insurance companies today, since I have been on a price comparison website... Aaagh!

Call Roland Smith Insurance who is wholly owned by Police Mutual on 0151 242 7640.. they might be able to help if you are a serving special.

I'll definitely keep their number handy, but I am not yet a serving special, I am through the AC and waiting for my medical...

You should most definitely shop around on the comparison websites, I always get a good deal on them!!, I've never claimed in my life, and I flatly refuse to pay high premiums to pay for boy racers and car thieves.
My wife and I currently have a small car each, and at the moment we pay £150-£180 fully comp.
We often have phone calls too, but I tell them straight off, "if you can't beat my present premium, then don't waste your breath"

direct line, they are not on a comparason website. but always cheaper.

is that so.....not what i have found.
yes it pays to shop around and when you have ring back your insurance company and tell them you have found someone cheaper they will in most cases match the others quote
