So I was watching Batman recently and I got wondering, how would we deal with a masked (and highly effective) vigilante in this country?! Batman breaks numerous traffic laws in his bat mobile and often gets in fights, but I've never seen him fill in one 'use of force' form. Superman was on the other weekend and there is the scene where he picks the jewel robber off the side of the building and leaves him at officer Maloneys feet. He's just committed assault handling him like that! And at what time did the pace clock start?

So I decided that in the UK we would probably attest them and sit them through an SC's course. And how cool would that be, doing your airwaves training with Batman! But do we think these caped crusaders would sit through the course, and if not should they be allowed? Should they report to the area Sgt at the start of each shift, or maybe just pick up a pool radio and inform the control room. The logistics of how best to employ them can really get quite tricky! :p

Would Superman be Air Support or TSG??

And would Batman be given an Advanced Authority or would he have to work his way through Basic and Standard Authorities?

Surely though if you called up control and told them you had seen a flying man would they not insist on a drug screening test? If Batman were speeding given the speed of the batmobile, who would want to be driving in the pursuit?

Length: 7.62 m
Width: 94.4 in
Height: 3.20 m
Maximum Speed:330 mph with booster

What would the job say about his constant use of non issue equipment? Batmarangs for example? And would he be willing to drive a 1.6 Astra diesel? if he ever got offered a level 4 driving course...

Not to mention he'd probably falunt the rules about having Constable MSC Wayne on his batsuit if he joined the Met.

He'd probably spend most of his time filling up paperwork anyway...

I'm not sure our force's driving policy permits officers to drive at that speed. Well, maybe on a NSL road.

Would he have to trade his batsuit for a MetSuit? :p

Perhaps batman should have read up on PACE before interviewing the Joker.

Would Batman be eligible to be an SC? I believe that he has a police commission from Gotham City.

Is the 'High-viz vest-cape' going to be standard issue, or will that have to be bought from Niton...?

I was out and about today off duty with my mate dick who is also looking into joining the specials, anyway we came across some guys fighting (I could see the "POW" and "BLAT" coming from down the street) would it be ok for me to have used my warrant card to break them up?? - dick told me that I really shouldn't as my Batarang, Cape and Grappling-hook were back at the nick.

But who would really want to mentor them, or even teach them on a driving course? I can't see Batman listening to giving way at red lights or superman listening to my warning to hang back at a domestic until another unit arrives!

I'm still not letting you in until I see the warrant card

I would think that Batman might struggle with plain clothes work, unless he did it as Bruce Wayne?
